Ludlow School Committee introduces incoming Superintendent Sharon Cornier and votes 5-0 on donations. The April 14 meeting marked the first public appearance of Cornier before the full board, one day after her appointment was formally announced to the district; she is set to begin July 1 after 36 years in education. Chair Sarah Bowler and Vice Chair Amanda Cotting led committee members in personal introductions for Cornier's benefit.
The board unanimously accepted three donations totaling $7,753.05, including $5,230 for a softball equipment shed at Baird Middle School and a combined $2,523.05 for East Street School. Member Dr. Schreier reported that state Representative Jake Oliveira had targeted $25,000 in fair share funding for Ludlow Public Schools and had raised concerns at the Joint Ways and Means Committee about the Chapter 70 formula failing to keep pace with district costs.
The meeting closed with the committee voting to enter executive session on collective bargaining strategy, declaring it would not return to open session.
