Ludlow Schools Adopt New Handbook, Move Open Houses, Approve Greece Student Trip

Ludlow School Committee unanimously approved its 2026-2027 student handbook, a calendar memorandum of agreement, and a student trip to Greece at its August 11 meeting. Principals from all four district buildings presented school improvement plans, with East Street and Harris Brook debuting a joint literacy and math framework, including adoption of the i-Ready Math curriculum and a goal of raising East Street's Panorama family engagement survey response rate from 2 percent to at least 20 percent. New Baird Middle School principal Bill, 12 days on the job, described a four-goal plan tied to the school's enrollment in the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Accelerating Achievement program, which can provide up to three to five years of coaching support.

Ludlow High School is restoring a common writing rubric across all content areas, replacing its Jostens Renaissance social-emotional learning program with Character Strong, and merging the state's MICAP career-planning framework with its existing Naviance platform for grades 6 through 12. Superintendent Vicki Kenoyer announced a pending $5,000 People's Bank grant for early literacy materials at East Street, to be formally approved in September, and said bus routes from contractor LPVEC are expected to be released to families around August 20.
