School Committee Adopts District Improvement Plan
School Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Ludlow School Committee backs new athlete mentor program, tables facility fee cuts. The committee unanimously approved a $5,000 People's Bank donation for East Street School literacy materials and adopted the district's updated improvement plan 5-0, which aims to cut total suspensions from 147 to under 75. MJK Foundation president Joe Hutchinson introduced the C.J.
Cronin Memorial Mentorship Program, now placing intern Haley Wachter with the girls soccer team, saying "it is important to us that we do near to peer." The committee discussed, but did not vote on, zeroing out most facility fees for Ludlow nonprofits, after learning a $100,000-a-year turf replacement fund had been appropriated only once. Member Mr. Lange said any waiver should apply only to "this room," not the athletic complex.
One member abstained on MIAA co-op waiver approvals.
