Ludlow Board of Health Revokes Mad Eats Food Permit, Ends Foot Care Program
Board of Health · Meeting of May 5, 2026
Ludlow's Board of Health revoked a food truck's permit and voted to end a contracted foot care program at its May 5 meeting. The board confirmed the revocation of the Mad Eats mobile food permit, effective May 4, after April inspections documented multiple repeat priority violations including improper food temperatures and handwashing sink misuse, following a conditional permit issued at a January 14 public hearing. Health Director Paulina told the board the department has spent approximately $11,520 since December on contracted foot care, with total costs projected to exceed $13,000 for 27 residents, and that the program will end July 1 citing the lack of a supervising medical director, state grant compliance requirements, and the need to redirect staffing to population-level public health work.
The board voted unanimously to post a public hearing, set for June 10, on a proposed regulation that would require temporary food event vendors selling prepackaged goods to obtain a permit, a gap created when the state food code was updated in 2018. A full-time public health nurse position has been posted, and a new community health worker joins the department June 1.
