Ludlow Board of Health Cuts Septic Repair Permit Fee to $100
Board of Health · Meeting of February 9, 2026
Ludlow Board of Health votes unanimously to cut septic repair permit fee by 41 percent. The board dropped the disposal works construction permit fee for component repairs from $170 to $100 effective February 10, following a survey by Health Director Lana showing surrounding towns, including Palmer, Brookfield, and Agawam, charge $100 or less for the same permit. Members noted the old fee had not been updated in at least five or six years and could burden elderly residents facing unavoidable small repairs.
In shared-services news, a new Title V contractor named Andy began work February 3, replacing former contractor Felix, and a preferred candidate for a part-time public health nurse post awaits a Board of Selectmen vote on February 17 to clear a conflict-of-interest designation before she can be formally hired. Lana also announced a new environmental work group across all four shared-services mill towns and said she will bring a full stabilization or revolving fund proposal to the March 17 meeting ahead of a May 11 town meeting warrant deadline of April 3.
