Ludlow Safety Panel Refers Wave of Traffic Complaints

Safety Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026

Ludlow Safety Committee refers years of Parkview Street speeding complaints to DPW and police. Deputy Chief Lavoie, appointed chairperson for the meeting, led roughly a dozen unanimous voice votes, including filing 30 home-occupation permits (cases 26-82 through 26-111) and approving a revised site plan for 37 Laterno Lane. A longtime Parkview Street resident told the committee drivers hit "40 or 50 miles an hour" past her home and said two approved no-parking signs were never replaced after being knocked down; members agreed to send DPW a letter and explore a portable speed-display sign.

Separately, the committee tabled a crossing-guard request at Napoleon Avenue and Fuller Street for lack of a crosswalk, tabled a Miller Street mirror request pending DPW review, and referred sign repairs on Highland Avenue, East Street and Swan Avenue to DPW. A Ventura Street request for speed bumps was declined in favor of additional signage.
