COMMUNITY -- Ludlow's weekly "Red Sox Update" segment, hosted by Christopher Torniak, reported that the New York Yankees eliminated the Red Sox from the 2026 postseason by winning both games of the Wild Card Series. In Game 1, Torniak said the Yankees scored nine runs in New York and shut out the Red Sox, 9-0, putting New York one win from advancing. In Game 2, Torniak reported the Yankees took a 2-0 lead in the fourth and fifth innings before Boston's Contreras hit a solo home run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 2-1. New York answered with a six-run sixth inning to go up 8-1, then added two more runs in the seventh for a final score of 9-2, ending Boston's season. Torniak said he will return next year with more Red Sox coverage.
