Ludlow Select Board promotes two officers to sergeant after interviews. The board voted unanimously to promote Officer Isaac Santana to the permanent sergeant position replacing retiring Sergeant Shameklis and to appoint Officer David Krok as provisional sergeant effective February 8 to fill the vacancy left by Lieutenant Tierney's advancement. Member Gennette, who sponsored Santana first, cited his experience beyond Ludlow and strong performance; Member Alves ranked Krok first but agreed Santana's education and tenure merited consideration.
Chair Silva, favoring Officer Stokowski's 16-year tenure, acknowledged that two board votes for Santana precluded any change in outcome. The permanent promotion will become permanent once a lieutenants list is established for future advancement of the provisional sergeant.
