Ludlow Select Board approves $91 million FY27 budget with no Prop 2.5 override and $195,000 excess capacity. Town Administrator Marc Strange reported a 3 percent school increase, 7.5 percent health insurance rise, three town FTE reductions, and two new hires. Separately, the board heard state officials pitch Green Communities designation and stretch energy code adoption; Board Member Manuel Silva voiced concerns that higher building code stringency inflates housing costs and excludes moderate-income homebuyers, while Member James Gennette countered that the state code will eventually become mandatory anyway, making early adoption the financially prudent path to capture state grants.
The board unanimously approved a $3,485 flooring project for Town Hall, a $3,367 police wellness grant, and a $63,000 contract with Retrofit for Munis software support through fiscal 2026.
