Select Board appoints Brennan chief, OKs entertainment license for Vanished Valley
Select Board · Meeting of January 20, 2026
LUDLOW — The Ludlow Select Board unanimously appointed Provisional Police Chief Lt. Michael Brennan as active Police Chief effective immediately, concluding his five-month interim role. Sergeant Brad Tierney was also unanimously appointed Provisional Lieutenant, with civil service testing scheduled for September 2026 and a permanent certified list expected in 2027.
The Board reissued an Entertainment License for outdoor venue Vanished Valley after the operator relocated its stage to face the building rather than neighborhood residences--a compromise to address noise complaints. Town officials and venue management agreed to enforce planned decibel limits (65 decibels until 10 p.m., then 50 afterward) pending Attorney General approval of a town noise ordinance for Town Meeting. Additional appointments included Larry Brace as Veteran's Office Claims Consultant, Firefighter Sean Burtt's retirement acceptance after 19 years, and five unanimously approved routine administrative and licensing votes.
