Finance Committee reorganizes, approves FY27 operating budget.

Ludlow Finance Committee reorganizes and conditionally backs FY27 operating budget. Chair Chad Mullin and Vice Chair Mike Kelliher were unanimously elected. Town Administrator Marc Strange reported the Treasurer/Collector's office $282,000 in deficit midyear and projected several departments at 94 to 96 percent spending with a quarter remaining.

The committee heard a pitch from Recreation Commission Chair Sean McBride for a new full-time Recreation Director to manage youth sports, secure grants, and staff Haviland Pond with approximately 40 seasonal employees. The FY27 operating budget includes a $30,000 new line for the Pond Committee, IT cost increases of roughly $45,000, and a school allocation of 3 percent. The committee voted to recommend the operating budget contingent on free cash certification, with final Select Board action set for May 5.
