Finance Committee approves FY27 budget with $1.4M in free cash remaining.

LUDLOW — Finance Committee reviews FY27 budget framework with $1.4M in free cash remaining. The committee examined year-to-date municipal expenditures as of end of February, with most departments between 67 and 77 percent spent. Chair Tony Sanches presented the capital plan totaling $2.4 million in free cash requests, including $335,000 for the final fire ladder truck payment, $362,000 for school exterior wall facade work, $155,000 for two police patrol vehicles, and $152,000 for DPW trash and recycling bins.

Finance Director Cheryl Allen flagged that police software and scheduling increased from $27,000 to $41,000 due to 12 computer replacements. The committee approved prior meeting minutes 5-0 and scheduled a public hearing for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
