LUDLOW — Board of Health backs 240 sharps containers from Opioid Settlement funds. The unanimous vote authorizes purchase of the containers, estimated at $940 to $1,100, for submission to the Select Board; Health Director Paulina Matusik presented usage data showing demand for 142 units but recommended the higher purchase quantity. The board welcomed Dr.
Tiago Martins, a gastroenterologist at Baystate Health, as the new Medical Director and greeted regional health nurse Brittany Hertz, who started March 3. Shared Services Coordinator Erin McMurray reported that an offer has been extended for the Community Health Advocate position and updated the board on the Shared Services Grant, which funds public health services across four communities and is slated for contract renewal through 2027.
